FAQs
What should I wear to my spray tan appointment?
Wear or bring loose, dark clothing for after your appointment. Think oversized tees, sweatpants, dresses, or rompers. Avoid tight clothing, bras, leggings, or anything that may rub while your tan is developing. Flip flops or slides are best for footwear.
Why did you increase your prices?
As Blissfully Bronzed has grown, so has the level of care, customization, and quality included in every session. All tans are now express by design, fully customized through consultation, applied with meticulous attention to detail, and finished with signature touches for comfort and longevity. The updated pricing reflects an all-inclusive, elevated experience — without add-ons, rushing, or cutting corners.
How long after my spray tan can I rinse?
Your rinse time is fully customized after your consultation and typically falls between 2–8 hours. This is based on your skin tone, desired depth of color, and schedule. I’ll guide you on exactly when to rinse so you get the best possible results.
Why shouldn’t I shower too close to my spray tan?
Showering right before your appointment can leave excess moisture on the skin and temporarily alter your skin’s pH, which may prevent the tanning solution from developing evenly. It’s best to shower at least 8–24 hours before your tan and arrive with clean, dry skin to help the color apply smoothly and last longer.
How does pH balance affect my spray tan color?
Your skin’s pH plays a big role in how a spray tan develops. When skin is too alkaline (often from soaps, shaving, sweating, or showering too close to your appointment), the tanning solution can oxidize faster and pull warmer tones — which may appear brassy or orange. Balanced, properly prepped skin allows the color to develop more evenly, resulting in a softer, more natural bronze.
This is why proper prep and timing before your appointment are so important for the best results.
Can I still get a spray tan if I use topical medications?
It depends on the medication and where it’s applied. Many topical products — including acne treatments, retinoids, antibiotics, or medicated creams — can affect how a spray tan develops or fades. Please let me know during your consultation what you’re using so we can adjust your tan or set realistic expectations. In some cases, areas using topical medications may develop lighter or fade faster.
Why can’t I leave my spray tan on as long as possible? Why are rinse times important?
Spray tan solutions are designed to develop within a specific time window. Leaving the solution on longer than recommended won’t necessarily make your tan darker — instead, it can cause over-development, pull warmer tones, dry out the skin, and lead to uneven fading. Following your personalized rinse time helps keep your skin balanced, allows the color to develop evenly, and results in a longer-lasting, more natural-looking glow.
What is the “spray tan smell”? Do I really have B.O.?
No — it’s not body odor. The scent comes from a natural reaction between the tanning ingredient (DHA) and the proteins in your skin as the color develops. This reaction can create a temporary odor that some people notice, especially while the tan is developing. It fades after your first rinse and does not mean you smell bad or did anything wrong. Baking soda can help with odor after rinsing, but should be avoided before or during tan development due to pH disruption.
Can I shave or wax before my appointment?
Yes — but shaving should be done 24 hours before, and waxing 48 hours before your tan for best results.
What makes Blissfully Bronzed different from other spray tan artists?
Blissfully Bronzed is built around intention, not volume. Every tan is an express tan, fully customized through a thoughtful consultation and applied with meticulous attention to blending, detail, and balance — not rushed or one-size-fits-all. I focus on how the tan develops, fades, and fits your lifestyle, finishing every session with signature touches for comfort and confidence. You’re not just getting a spray tan — you’re getting a personalized glow experience designed to look natural, feel effortless, and last beautifully.
Are “spray tan–safe” products a myth? Can they really mess up my tan?
They’re not a myth — but the label can be misleading. Many products marketed as “spray tan safe” still contain ingredients like oils, heavy silicones, sulfates, or fragrances that can affect how a tan develops or fades. Even products that are generally fine for daily use may shorten the life of your tan or cause uneven fading.
Using gentle, lightweight, and pH-balanced products is key to maintaining your glow. When in doubt, less is more — and I’m always happy to recommend products that work best with your tan.
What if I sweat after my spray tan?
Sweating during development can affect results. Staying cool and dry helps ensure even development.
How often can I get a spray tan?
Most clients tan every 7–10 days, depending on lifestyle and skin type.
Can I swim with a spray tan?
Yes — but frequent swimming, hot tubs, or long baths may shorten the lifespan of your tan.
